Amazon, JPMorgan Chase & CO. and Sainsbury’s topped LinkedIn’s annual list of companies that people want to work for most.
Each year, LinkedIn editors and data scientists analyse the actions of billions of LinkedIn members to see which businesses are attracting the most attention from prospective employees. Additionally, the study considers staff retention rates as a key determiner of what people are looking for in a job.
LinkedIn’s fourth annual ranking looks at what professional networkers are doing in their search for a career of fulfilment and the ranking is determined by the interactions between 610 million+ users and companies.
Long-standing history
Aside from deciphering the top companies to work for, the research shed light on some alternative key findings. The list suggested that jobseekers are drawn to companies with long-standing histories as fifteen of the companies were founded more than 100 years ago.
Geographic area
While London may have been a desirable career location for many, the research indicated that the demand for non-London hubs is currently on the rise. Some of LinkedIn’s top companies may have headquarters in the capital, but other geographic areas have suggested a shift in desirable working locations. This included Asda (Leeds), Travis Perkins (Northampton), GSK (Brentford) and Centrica (Windsor).
Katie Carroll, Managing Editor at LinkedIn UK commented: “In the fourth year of the Top Companies initiative, it is great to see that the LinkedIn platform is such an important indicator of the companies that the UK wants to work for most. We are proud to be able to connect UK job seekers with companies that inspire them, to help them get one step closer to landing their dream job.”
